JOSHNA Chinappa proved to good for national junior Low Wee Wern once again as she clinched the NSC Super Satellite No 4 women’s title at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil yesterday.
India’s Joshna completed a Malaysian double by adding to the NSC Super Satellite No 3 title she won last week after beating Wee Wern 11-8, 11-7, 11-6 in the 25-minute final.
Wee Wern, ranked 46th in the world, did not have a reply to top seed Joshna’s low drives and accurate shots and had to be content with yet another runner-up finish, her third in four Wispa Tour finals this year.
“I did better than last week but she was stronger and sharper in her shots. I couldn’t match her pace as she’s fast and accurate,” said Wee Wern, 18.
The men’s title went to Australian third seed Zac Alexander who denied Stephane Galifi of France a second title in two weeks with an 11-8, 3-11, 11-9, 12-10 win in 34 minutes.
Galifi, the fourth seed, squandered two game points in the fourth game as Alexander scored four points in a row for the win leaving the frustrated Frenchman to hurl his shoes out of court and narrowly missing the spectators.
